What was the highlight of Sonesta Valledupar Hotel
Other than their pay extra for a visitor rule it is a great hotel. But I really didn’t like that part.
It was good. Warm water. Decent breakfast. Probably the best breakfast you’ll get in a hotel in this city. It’s known as the best hotel in the city for a reason. I also like that you can pay a little extra for a late check out.
My flight got three hours delayed which made me arrive quite late. So to spend at least a little time with my girlfriend that day she brought me from the airport to my hotel. She didn’t spend the night yet I had to pay extra for her being able to visit me. Absolutely ridiculous imo. I’m used to pay for a room. This was a room with a double bed so technically for two persons yet you have to pay extra for the second person. Makes no sense to me but she didn’t even spend the night. Was maybe there for an hour. And the next day when she came to pick me up I wasn’t fully ready yet so I wanted to go and get her downstairs, take her to my room while I was finishing packing and the hotel staff quickly went to her to ask her if she had paid or not. I’ve never experienced anything like that ever before in any hotel in any country.

The staff was amazing
I was charged twice for taxes/fees. Unfortunately, Booking wasn't clear enough about it. Thus, I was disappointed in this grey zone and ended up paying twice taxes/fees. Therefore, I had to book extra nights through other platforms that clarify the payment/taxes. Rather than that, no issues at all.
